Privacy Policy

Personal data processing is carried out in accordance with valid legislative documents of SR and EU – Act no. 18/2018 on Personal Data Protection and Amending and Supplementing Certain Acts, and Regulation (EU) 2016/679 of European Parliament and of the Council.

The legislative framework for personal data processing is Act no. 126/2015 about Libraries which determines the extent of personal data processing in § 18 Library Rights. By signing a registration application, a contractual relationship originates between the user and the library in accordance with Act no. 40/1965 Civil Code.

Mandatory information a user is to provide at registration is name and surname, permanent residence, date of birth, type and number of an identity card (with the exception of minors), and educational attainment.  Optional information: degree title, contact address, e-mail, phone number, information for obtaining a discount during registration (pupil, student, university student, unemployed person, woman on parental leave, retiree, war veteran, Severe Medical Impairment (ZŤP) card holder, retiree with impairments, University of the third age, etc.).

Mandatory information of a legal guardian is processed in a similar manner as user information with the exception of the date of birth. Optional information does not have to be filled out, it serves for more effective communication between the library and the user.

After expiration of registration, settlement of liabilities, and fulfillment of the purpose of statistical reporting given by law, personal data are liquidated. It is done either 365 days after expiration of registration at the latest or sooner if the user requests so in written form. Liquidation is carried out by:

  • shredding the registration application and other physical documents,
  • making personal data in the computer database anonymous; data are further used only for statistical purposes without any ties to a specific user.

The user has the right to request the statement of their processed personal data. In the case of any doubts about processing and storing their personal data, they can request an explanation, or a correction of the detected state (by correction, addition, restriction of processing or liquidation of personal data). They can do so personally or in written form. Given they have no indebtedness to the library, and they request so in written form, the library will liquidate all personal data of the user immediately after the request approval.

The library sends out information about its activities and events only on the basis of an agreement which one can grant (or withdraw) in person in the library, via a phone call to the number 041/7233090, or via an e-mail to the address kniznica@krajskakniznicazilina.sk. During selected cultural and educational events, the library creates photo documentation for documentation and archival purposes with the aim of positive promotion of the library. Given a participant does not wish to be in the documentation materials, they are to notify a librarian before the start of the event.

Only the employees who need so for executing their work have access to personal information. They are obligated to maintain confidentiality about the information even after the termination of their employment.
